Visa Check and credit cards

Visa Check Cards
The Visa Check Card will make your life easier! It looks like a credit card but works like a check. You can use it to access your draft checking account at the Fannie Mae Federal Credit Union, 24 hours a day. It's convenient and easy to use.

The Visa Check Card functions as both a debit card and an ATM card. You can use it wherever Visa is accepted to make purchases or to get cash.

1. Check card transactions – It's just like writing a check, only easier! It's quick and eliminates the need to carry your checkbook or cash. The Visa Check Card can be used to make purchases at merchant locations that accept Visa, such as gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, or department stores. Any purchases made with this card will be directly debited from your checking account.

2. ATM transactions – The Visa Check Card can be used at any Automated Teller Machine (ATM) that displays a Visa logo to get cash 24 hours a day. You can make cash withdrawals up to $300 per day from your Fannie Mae Federal Credit Union checking account.

How does it work?
You can use the Visa Check Card at any location that displays the Visa logo. There are over 10 million merchant locations throughout the world. And, you can obtain cash at over 130,000 Visa Network ATMs or at more than 260,000 financial institutions around the world that display the Visa symbol. The Visa Check Card is ideal for travel.

A PIN is required for ATM functions (cash withdrawals at an ATM). You will receive four free ATM withdrawals each month, and then each additional withdrawal will cost $1.00 per transaction.

You do not need a PIN when you use the card as a Check Card for purchases at a merchant and Check Card point-of-sale transactions are free!

How can I get a Visa Check Card?
It's as simple as completing an application. The Visa Check Card is available to qualifying members of Fannie Mae Federal Credit Union with a share draft checking account. Once you are approved, we will establish a Line-of-Credit Overdraft Loan or pledged shares to serve as overdraft protection on your checking account. We will also establish an authorization limit on your Visa Check Card.

See your local Credit Union representative for an application, or call (202) 752-6662. Send completed applications to:
